TYPOGRAPHY 19: THE ANNUAL OF THE TYPE DIRECTORS CLUB 44TH EXHIBITION
By Type Directors Club & Poulin + Morris
For those who look forward to The Type Directors Club annual each year, this one is no letdown. Designed by Poulin + Morris, this is the latest TDC annual, their 44th Exhibition. It’s a visual feast of the best in new typographic design.

New to this year’s annual is the TDC2, a separate competition/exhibition exclusively for type designs.

There are a few editorial and production errors that register as minor blips on the typographic infractions radar. While I feel they don’t merit my pointing out each instance—they’re nonetheless annoying considering this is a publication from the TDC—made for its members and a larger audience that is versed on the subject of typography, and that is why I mention them.

Numerous noteworthy submissions have been included as usual. Of special notice in this annual is the much needed (long overdue?) separate competition, TDC2—which is solely for typeface designs. This new exhibition/competition was initiated by James Montalbano and Paul Shaw. The TDC2 is judged by a separate panel of judges, all typeface designers themselves.
